Manchester United Vs Crystal Palace Player Ratings

Champions are made of this

A look at how the major media houses rated Manchester United players against Cr (300x250)" >ystal palace.

Daily Mail
Mata and Lingard legends

They have given Chris Smalling 5 and Daley Blind has been given a six. Do you think Smalling deserved more? His two yellow cards were well deserved but overall his performance I think his performance deserve better.
Rooney has been given a solid 8.5

BBC SPORT
Captain Fantastic Rooney

For the Bbc eyebrows for Rashford. He has been given a whopping 9 but that did not earn him the Man of The match. It went to Rooney who has been given a rating of 8.
I think Rashford was good yesterday but a nine is on the high side. I think a 7.5 would have been a better rating.
Read more here from the BBC.

The Daily Telegraph
Did David De Gea deserve more? He has been given a six, the blame being that he conceded a goal at his near post. I may argue out there was uncertainty in the defence. They thought Jason Puncheon was in an offside position and that why they hesitated. This made de Gea to react too late.

Did Valencia also deserve a better rating? His seven is a bit low considering he was up against Yannick Bolasie, a trick player but Valencia was able to contain him. His bombing upfront to help in attack was also a joy to watch.

Daily Star
An eyebrow rating for Chris Smalling. He has been given a four. Does it mean when a player is sent of all the good he had done is forgotten? Smalling had played the whole 90 minutes without any blemish. True his performance was that not eye catching but he had led the defence well resitricting Crystal Palace attack to just a few chances. His second card was well deserved but for my part he had to do it. He sacrificed himself for the team the way Luis Suarez did in 2010 world cup against Ghana.

The mirror
The Bbc gave Marcus Rashford a nine,  the mirror has given him a six. Why should there be so much difference if Rashford was that good from the BBc point of view. Another eye catching rating is Juan Mata, he is the mirror Man of the match with a rating of 8.He scored the equalizing goal but for me his performance was peripheral. Carrick and Rooney controlled the game and deserved a better rating than Mata.

Goal.Com
Am never a fan of goal.com but here I agree Fellaini was better than Carrick yesterday. Fellaini had been given 3.5 star rating (out of 5) while Carrick has been given 3.0. Fellaini was immense yesterday.

His presence really unsettled Crystal Palace defence and for once he was not that clumsy except for the use of the elbow late in the game.

The season that was

KE-[C:G.Phon.Mobi] TV Blast:250x250

The season that was. We had high expectations even at one time we were leading the table then everything bad that could happen happened.

Injuries struck, Van Gaal decided to make experiments with the players(What is the function of a pre-season?)..

The month of December was the worst, losing to Bournemouth, Norwich..
All this had a toll effect on the fans even sometimes I contemplated not watching any other Man United game for the rest of the season. But my love for the team stood.

We stand with the team in worse and good situation.
The emergency of the young guns, Anthony Martial, Fosu Mensah, Riley, Rashford brought a smile back to my face.

Despite all the struggles the future is bright, bright for all those suffering fans who stood by the team. We are united and we always come back stronger. The question whether it's Mourinho or Van Gaal does not matter.

What matters is we must go back to our winning ways. We have to bring back the fear factor especially at old Trafford.
The season has been disappointing but there is the positive part, not every team qualifies for an FA cup final. Success in your endeavours Man United fans. The Best club # ggmu

Manchester United in the FA Cup since 1996

The FA Cup from 1996
Eric Cantona scoring the winning goal in the 1996 FA cup final. Ryan Giggs weaving run against Arsenal at Villa Park in 1999. Meeting Millwall,  of all teams in 2004. Heartbreak for Paul Scholes in 2005 after United had dominated the game. Didier Drogba led Chelsea breaking United hearts in 2007 final.

King Eric led the charge against the bitter enemy, Liverpool in 1996. A youthful United side that had been written off by BBC pundit Alan Hansen, a former Liverpool player, against all odds ended up winning the league and the FA Cup. Led by King Eric, the Fergie Fledglings, as they were known, beat Liverpool 1-0 at Wembley. King Cantona scored the lone goal in the second half to give Ferguson his second FA cup since 1994.

Ryan Giggs tearing defences apart 1999
A special year in Manchester United history. The Treble year. Arsenal stood between Manchester United and Wembley. The contest which had to go for a replay at Villa Park was settled by one of the best goal ever in the FA Cup.
Newcastle were next in line at Wembley. The game ended 2-0 in favour of United.

Millwall succumbs to CR7 and Ruud Van Nistelrooy
This was more like a formality. Millwall were 10th in the Championship and Man United had just finished 3rd in the premier league. A superb header from Cristiano Ronaldo and two goals including a penalty from Ruud Van Nistelrooy secured the FA Cup.

Heartbreak at the Millennium Stadium.
I still do not believe we lost this game. United utterly dominated the game such that Arsenal had only one shot on target in 120 minutes.

Paul Scholes had tried his best in the game, controlling the midfield from the start to end. The heartbreak was he couldn't convert his penalty therefore handing the title to Arsenal.
Against Portsmouth in 2008
A straightforward game, so it seemed but Portsmouth had other ideas. Everyone expected Manchester United to easily win the game considering Portsmouth were fighting relegation. United had the lethal strike force of Tevez, Ronaldo and Rooney.
Sulley Ali Muntari scored the lone goal from the spot therefore ending United hopes of winning the treble like in 1999. Rio Ferdinand was the goalkeeper as Muntari took the Penalty.
Drogba in 2007
The great Ivorian scored the lone goal as Chelsea won the final at the Millennium Stadium.

Manchester United vs Aston over the years

Aston Villa fall from grace is just baffling. Just a few years ago they were a force to reckon in English football. Under Martin O’Neal they were a fearsome team with quality players. Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor and James Milner formed quite a lethal attacking unit. When O’Neal left everything started to crumble and now they are on their way to the championship.
Manchester United has had cracking games against Villa in this Premier League era.
I remember Kiko Macheda saving our backsides as Villa threatened to spoil the party at Old Trafford.
Aston Villa beating us 3-1 at Villa Park in 1995 is also a game to remember. This was the birth of the Fergie Fledglings. The time when Alan Hansen eat humble pie by claiming you can never win anything with kids.
Aston Villa has provided us with some quality players notably Dwight Yorke. Dwight Yorke transfer to Manchester United in 1998  was one of the catalyst for the Treble in 1999.
Ashley Young has also performed quite well since his transfer in 2011..
Mark Hughes also played for the two teams.
I hope they will not stay too long in the championship.
