Now that United have ended their 404 minutes without a goal, United can proudly brandish a record of having not conceded in their last four matches. Actually, it is seven and three quarter hours.

Lingard is good. Rooney can still score although he is a bit chubby. Martial is human, he can have an off day. Van Gaal is a trial and error coach. All in all three points and top of the table. Hurrah Man United fans!!!!

The groans at Old Trafford when Van Gaal subbed Martial for Fellaini tells all the story. The fans were for Van Gaal to sub Rooney and there frustration seemed justified when Rooney missed a open goal after being set up by Mata.

But trust Rooney to come to the rescue of Man United after a poor second half. CSKA were growing in confidence and belief and in fact they had their best moment a few minutes before Rooney scored.

Lingard was everywhere in the game, that performance will give him the required confidence to claim a place in the starting eleven.
